Book Review- 6 degrees Game of blogs

India’s leading blogging website Blogadda as a part of their #Celebrate Blogging initiative in 2014 ran a unique contest called the ‘Game of Blogs’.  Bloggers were given 5 different and intriguing characters and through the course of the contest had to weave stories judged by an eminent panel of top authors comprising of Ashwin Sanghi, Kiran Manral, Meghna Pant, Natasha Badhwar, Raksha Bharadi and Ravi Subramanian.

300 bloggers from all over the country working as 30 teams joined forces in a collaborative effort to create magic with their words writing a blog post a day with a riveting story. Only 3 top teams made the cut and their stories were selected and published in what is a first in Indian publishing history- ‘6 Degrees- Game of Blogs’. This contest and its outcome is path breaking in many ways apart from testing the perseverance, creativity and teamwork of bloggers.

Each of the judges have written glowing words of praise for this book in the forward and their thoughts while judging the contest are a testament to the uniqueness of the concept and the fabulous writing behind this page turner that you are not going to be able to put down unless you reach the end.

Looking at the cover you might wonder “Which version of Game of thrones that is?” As a reader I’ll recommend you to fasten your seatbelt and get on an even more thrilling and adventurous ride. After all can you imagine – 5 same characters (Tara, Shekhar, Roohi, Cyrus and Jennifer) but 3 totally different stories with twists that will have you biting your nails and rushing through pages to know what happened in the end… This is exactly how I felt while reading the book and enjoyed each word immensely. The 3 stories in this book range straight from science fiction, to a murder mystery to a story of a missing and finding oneself.

The first story in the book (The awakening) was my favourite story. In this story 3 of the 5 central characters live in amchi Mumbai in their own happy world away from the madness. The entry of two strangers in their lives turns their perfect world inside out testing the strength of each relationship and redefining beliefs and lives from what they were earlier. Not only that the world gets endangered in this story. It goes without saying that the climax is nail biting. What I particularly loved about this story was the attention to detail in the descriptions. The night I slept after reading this story it was like I was dreaming in the vivid world the created by the writers.

The second story (Entangles Lives) is a spine chilling murder mystery which will keep you guessing till the last sentence of the story. Imagine, the same set of characters that were saving the world from an alien onslaught are now caught up in the midst of a murky murder that keeps on getting sinister by the minute taking with it many innocent lives. If you love crime thrillers or watching Sherlock Holmes this story is one which will tie your nerves in knots wondering who did it till the end! I also loved the killers poetry interspersed in between.

The third story (Missing- A Journey within) traces the lives of the same 5 characters struggling through their lives in a totally different plotline. It traces the journey of love, hope, care, affection, looking at hatred, ego, prejudice and negativity. Two different families come to terms with their past and present and are challenged to accept the future all the while looking for the missing persons who mean the world for them. Will they be found, will the clouds of the past overshadow their future and will they ever make peace with the present.

Read on for all this and more.
Kudos to Blogadda for this unique concept and platform and for the winning teams in giving the readers such an entertaining ride.

Happy Reading!
