A Wish
Everyday I hear
The soft tap- tap
Of your walking stick
A bespectacled grin
Out of sync with the grey's
You stretch stiffly in the park
Waiting patiently
For boisterous children to pass
Blessing them
With your loving eyes
Gathering herbs for your tea
Flowers for the puja
Admiring butterflies
Lost in deep contemplation
All with your signature grin
I only wish
When in life, I reach your stage
To share my whites
There will be
An equally infectious smile!
Tathastu! :)

DeleteThe whites often have a lot of wisdom hidden in them. Nice tribute to the elderly.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely true Somali! Whites are actually a synonym for wisdom that I've used here! So glad you liked it!!!
