Haiku- What Poetry means to me

When you start out as a poet, I believe there is a defining force within you that forms a majority of the underlying themes in the poems you tend to write. On your journey as a poet, as your poetry matures, so does this underlying theme to reflect how far you have come. For me a poem has always been a source of inspiration. A sparkling jewel shimmering with the underlying thought. So much more precious than a real gem, for poetry in my mind is magical words, strung together in a beautiful song that touches hearts and minds alike. Looks subconsciously determine how a person is perceived. This is more so in the case of women, who are judged by their appearances.  Be it their choice of clothes or length of hair. Everything becomes a topic of intense scrutiny by peers, friends colleagues and most surprisingly family.  Believe it or not, a survey conducted by Nihar Naturals #IAmCapable reveals that: a. 69% of men agree that their judgment of women is based on their looks. b. 64% of women agree that the judgments passed on them have affected their ability to reach their true potential. c. 70%of women agree that majority of judgments on women are from family members or friends rather than strangers. d. 72% of women agree that working women face more judgments on their looks or their clothes than housewives. Now what happens when a girl or a woman wears glasses because she actually needs them and doesn’t want to subject her eyes to the torture of lenses or laser treatment? Well ...
